Confirmation is a Catholic Sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. It is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation for Catholic, and is most often associated with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Good Shepherd Parish offers the sacrament of Confirmation to eligible students in eighth grade, and to those in higher grades who have not yet been confirmed.
The Diocese of Wilmington requires a two-year preparation to prepare for the reception of Confirmation. Candidates must successfully complete two years of religious education in a Catholic school or religious education program and have received the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion.
You may find the registration form for religious education under Religious Education header.
The program consists of 24 classes, offered on Sunday mornings from 10am-11:45am.
Service hours are also required, as is participation in a confirmation retreat. Confirmation will be conferred in the spring, dependent on the schedule of the Bishop of Wilmington.
If you have any questions, please contact Jeanmarie Sepka at the parish office: 410-642-6534, ext. 12, or [email protected].
If you are 18 years of age or older, and have not yet been confirmed, you may receive the sacrament by attending one class. Please contact Judy Hyde at the Parish Office for information.
